YEAH! Mission in The Gambia
Thanks to Stop Hunger’s longstanding partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), 422 schools in The Gambia can ensure better school meals for their students. This is the result of Sodexo colleagues like Stuart Bowman, Sodexo Development Chef, UK&I, who choose to step forward - not just as experts - but as partners ready to listen, learn, and stand alongside local teams.
At their core, this is the spirit of Stop Hunger’s YEAH! missions (Your Engagement Against Hunger): Sodexo colleagues volunteering their time and skills to strengthen school feeding programmes from the inside out. Each mission is different, but the intention is always the same - support the people already doing the work and help build systems that last long after they leave.
During his recent visit to the Gambia with WFP, Stuart spent his time helping to train local trainers who will go on to train the culinary staff of 422 schools, showing them how to produce tastier, healthier and more nutritious school meals. Throughout his mission, Stuart was inspired by the people he met, who are determined to give children a better meal every day. Encounters like these are what shape the heart of the YEAH! missions.
These missions are made possible through the collaboration between Stop Hunger and the World Food Programme, working together with local governments to strengthen national school feeding systems that endure.
